Regenerative Practices Pilot (ADPC):

Project Overview

The ADPC-supported pilot was designed to test and demonstrate cost-effective, farmer-friendly regenerative agriculture interventions that can be adopted at scale. The project focused on building real-world evidence around how regenerative practices contribute to climate adaptation, soil restoration, and improved farm incomes, particularly under smallholder and mixed farming conditions.

Key Focus Areas

Regenerative Crop Management

Introduction of low-disturbance land preparation, organic nutrient management, and diversified cropping systems.

Climate Action & Adaptation

Practices aimed at reducing climate risks, improving moisture retention, and stabilizing yields under variable weather conditions.

Scalability & Replicability

Designing models that are technically sound, economically viable, and easily replicable across different regions.

Input Optimization

Reducing dependency on chemical inputs through improved nutrient cycling and soil health management.

Implementation Approach

The pilot followed a structured and participatory implementation framework, including:

  • Selection of representative pilot sites

  • Hands-on technical support and farmer training

  • Monitoring of agronomic, environmental, and economic indicators

  • Documentation through field data, presentations, and multimedia outputs (presentations, videos, and learning materials)

Partnerships & Collaboration

This project was implemented with the support of the Asia Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) under its Climate Action Challenge Grant. The collaboration enabled PNARD to align field-level interventions with regional climate action priorities, while strengthening institutional learning and cross-country knowledge exchange.

Impact & Way Forward

The successful completion of the ADPC pilot demonstrated the feasibility and scalability of regenerative agriculture models under real farm conditions. Lessons learned from this initiative are now informing PNARD’s broader program design, ongoing field trials, and advisory services.
